Nutcracker

There have been many changes to all of our normal traditions this year. The Nutcracker has always been one of the traditions that the 3rd graders perform. In a normal year, they would learn all the Nutcracker songs in music class, the dances would be taught during PE class, and the speaking parts were assigned by the music teacher and sent home to practice. Mrs. Peek and I would provide help with decorating the stage, and some practice times during class. With that being said, it was breaking our hearts that this class wouldn’t get to have a Nutcracker performance.

SO… we have put together an alternative “Readers Theater Nutcracker” where there will be more speaking, and less singing and dancing. We wanted our classes to still have somewhat of an experience with the Nutcracker. We will be performing on Friday, the 18th for our 5th grade cohort classes. Mrs. Gruchot has agreed to record the performance, and we will send it out to you that day! We know this won’t be what the normal performance would look like, but bare with us as we are doing our best! We love these kids so much and want to give them the experience. We will also be making our traditional large Nutcracker people this year too!

Holiday Party

Our class will be having our Holiday Party on Friday afternoon, December 18th.  We will be watching a movie, The Tale of Despereaux, playing a game, and eating snacks all afternoon.  We are all set with snacks for the afternoon.  Thank you SO much for your help!

Math/Science Tests this week

We will be wrapping up our Multiplication/Division math unit this week and take the Part 1 test Tuesday and the Part 2 on Thursday.  We have learned several strategies for solving multiplication and division problems, however, the best way is to get them memorized!  Over the break, please continue having your child practice putting their multiplication facts to memory.  There are several ways to do this including:  flash cards, IXL F Skills, and Everyday Math Online Games.

In addition, we are finishing our Science Unit, Animals Through Time, this week.  There will be a Quizziz Review posted in our Google Classroom which students should begin looking over.  We will also be reviewing in class on Wednesday.
